Could a proposed state bill (CA SB 827) be a viable solution to the chronic housing shortage and lack of affordability in California? The measure would eliminate zoning restrictions within ½ mile of transit lines, allowing for more homes — including condos and apartments — to be built. The goal is to address the supply/demand imbalance, while encouraging more people to use public transportation. But this would obviously transform the look of neighborhoods along transit routes, which has ruffled some feathers. We’re sure everyone will be hearing more about SB 827 as the the debate (and vote) plays out!
